Thermal deburring equipment comes in a few varieties depending on your needs. Whether you have a lower-volume facility that cleans a few parts per hour or a higher-volume plant that needs automated cleaning processes, there’s an industrial cleaning machine for you. JAYCO Cleaning Technologies discusses state-of-the-art thermal deburring equipment on the market today.
As the name implies, a single-chamber thermal deburring machine has one hydraulic chamber to take care of a single part at a time. The chamber handles cylindrical parts up to 310 millimeters in diameter by 280 millimeters high or quadratic pieces measuring 220 millimeters square by 280 millimeters high. This machine can handle a single deburring session in about 60 to 90 seconds or a double shot in 110 to 150 seconds.
A two-station rotary machine lets you prep two workpieces at a time for thermal deburring. When both pieces are ready, the workstation rotates inward to put the items in their respective chambers. Hydraulic chambers are slightly bigger to accommodate larger pieces up to 395 millimeters in diameter by 580 millimeters high for cylinders or quadratic parts as much as 275 millimeters square by 580 millimeters high. The pressure in the chamber is less, due to the chamber’s overall size. A single shot lasts from 45 to 70 seconds, while a double session is 90 to 120 seconds.
Instead of rotating two parts a time, a five-station rotary allows your team to process five workpieces at a time. As such, chambers are smaller compared to the two-station rotary to maximize space inside the thermal deburring machine. Each chamber handles cylinders 395 millimeters in diameter by 280 millimeters high, which means these parts are shorter and squatter instead of taller and skinnier. Quadratic pieces measure up to 275 millimeters square by 280 millimeters high. A single shot lasts 30 to 60 seconds, and double shots of high heat are 90 to 120 seconds. The advantage of this machine is that your team can process five parts at a time.
The plastics thermal deburring machine differs from the rest of the models in several ways. First, it works with quadratic pieces measuring up to 400 millimeters square by 800 millimeters long. The pressure goes up to 2 bars versus 16 to 23 bars in the other equipment. The flammable gas is pure hydrogen to eliminate any soot on plastic pieces, which comes in handy for clear acrylic products. Methane is the preferred gas in thermal deburring machines that process metal parts. Only certain thermoplastics work in the plastics machine, including acrylic, polyamide, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyurethane. A cycle lasts for 60 to 120 seconds.
